When Volunteers of America was founded, a “volunteer” was someone whose vocation was to serve others through a commitment to a mission. Today, we are still staffed by mission-driven professionals working to support individuals and build thriving communities, only now we call them “employees.”

We were proud to participate in the Congressional Youth Cabinet Mock Hearing at HART in Ybor, led by U.S. Representative Kathy Castor. Throughout the school year, these students have been exploring housing affordability in Tampa Bay, and this hearing gave them the opportunity to hear expert testimony, ask questions, and experience the legislative process firsthand.![]()

Making essential services more accessible.![]()

At our Puerta del Sol location, we hosted an on-site visit to help residents and community members renew driver’s licenses, state IDs, handicap parking permits, and more, bringing these resources directly to those who may have difficulty traveling.![]()

The idea came from a resident and quickly grew into a meaningful opportunity for many. With 32 individuals served, the impact was clear.![]()

Due to the strong response, the team will return in two weeks and the event will once again be open to the public.![]()
