A #VOAFL team member has asked for a prayer for those affected by Mental Illness and their families. Many of us have been touched by mental illness in some way, whether through those we serve or through our personal experiences or families. Thank you to Kerry Forbes for providing this beautiful prayer.
"Heavenly Father, thank You for the opportunity to serve those in need and to lift up one another through prayer. Bless those who struggle with mental illness and bless their families. Help them to find and maintain happiness and stability and the proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Grant courage to face all challenges, wisdom in finding solutions and persistence in following the path to mental health and well-being. Help us to recognize when we need help and to ask for it as appropriate. Open the eyes of those who stigmatize mental illness, that they will have compassion and understanding towards those who are afflicted. With grateful hearts and hopeful spirits we pray in Jesus’ holy name, Amen." #EndTheStigma #MentalHealthAwareness #Prayer #PrayerRequest #AllAreWelcome #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #MentalIllness ... Ramadan Kareem. Have you noticed some of your friends fasting during the day? Well, Tuesday marked the start of Ramadan in the US. In Islam, Ramadan is a holy month of fasting, introspection and prayer. Fasting is one of the five fundamental principles of Islam. Each day during Ramadan, followers of Islam, or Muslims, do not eat or drink from sunrise to sunset. During this time Muslims also strive to avoid impure thoughts and bad behavior. Muslims break their daily fasts by sharing meals with family and friends. The end of Ramadan is celebrated with a three-day festival known as Id al-Fitr that is considered one of Islam’s major holidays. Ramadan Kareem, to all observing Ramadan.
Christians, Ramadan is similar to Lent. Many Christians observe Ramadan in solidarity with their Muslim friends and many Muslims observe Lent with their Christian friends in solidarity. Interesting, huh. 🙂
This was such a fantastic event with Greystone Health Network last month where team members spent the day beautifying the #VOAFL Tampa Program, James Cole Village. This month they are hosting a FOOD DRIVE for the month of May! The drive will be distributed to the Veterans & families served at James Cole Village in honor of Memorial Day. We are incredibly honored and grateful for this new and special relationship with Greystone and for all they are doing to support Floridians in need. #MemorialDay #TampaFL #ThankYou #FoodDrive #Veterans #Volunteer #GiveBack #GreystoneDOS2018Greystone Health Network spent yesterday at three Tampa nonprofits for our #GreystoneDOS2018. Our team members helped prepare and serve lunch for the homeless and needy at Trinity Cafe, assembled patio furniture and dug deep to plant a vegetable garden at James Cole Village housing for veterans and helped Metropolitan Ministries with gardening, landscaping, laying a paver patio and serving lunch. #GreystoneDOS2018 - Caring, Community, Camaradarie. ...
